A long time coming

It's been a while since I've left an update.

We ended up vacationing down in Avon, CO this summer. We went to two brand new places to climb.

One called Wollcott Boulders, located in Wollcott, CO along the Eagle River.

The main boulder was a 20 foot high ball with some interesting climbs. There was a small cave problem that frustrated me to no end, but I finally sent it after 30 minutes of screaming and kicking.

The other place was called Kluttergarden, this amazing set of boulders was outside of Redcliff, CO nestled in a grove of aspen trees. We snapped more pictures here at Kluttergarden. 

We taped just one climb which Tyler and Katherine both sent. A V3 named The Stare. The climb was cruxed with a sloping pinch, half pad crimps, and 2 slapping slopers. They both worked hard at solving the problem and sent it.

Rocky Mountain National Park June 5

Spent another day down in RMNP with Tyler. He took us to one of his favorite spots called Nicky's Boulders. It was a short hike up hill to a huge boulder field.

 

The guidebook had about 6 boulders in the area that were climbable. We hiked down to Bill McKee Boulder.

There was an awesome overhang problem that we all sent.

Then, we continued down the trail to Unnamed Boulder and climbed a fun arete problem. We ended up packing up and stopping at Tomato Boulder on our way out for Tyler to send a crimpy V4 problem.

We hiked out and went back downtown to grab a bite to eat. We also met Tyler's new puppy, unnamed, which they rescued from a local shop. Here is a picture of him:

No GPS coordinates, the program on my phone decided to go crazy. But, I did make a compilation video of the session.

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day.Yesterday we spent the afternoon visiting Tyler in Estes Park. After some burgers and brews we headed into the park. Tyler took us to a highball called the Hollowell Park Block. There were some pretty nice V2 climbs.

While we were at Hollowell a pretty good snow storm rolled through. We were getting hit by pea sized snow pellets for about 30 minutes.


We decided to pack up and head to Suzuki boulder. After about 10 minutes at Suzuki, it stopped snowing and Tyler and Kate attempted Middle East V5 and I attempted a variation of East Crack V3. All 3 of us were unsuccessful, but Tyler put together the whole sequence in 2 parts, Kate was freezing, but still able to put together the first 2 moves and I have the sequence down until the top out. Sends will be coming in the near future for all 3 of us.

All in all, it was a great day in Estes Park and RMNP.

Carter Lake 5.22.11

May have found a new boulder. The water was pretty high, so the guide book is hard to follow. Kahuna and Fallen Arete were almost underwater. Used MyTracks on the new mobile device to map the trail. Edited the video last night, got it ready to publish this afternoon. I can't wait till school is over.

Weathered April

This April we have seen a variety of weather. Wind gusts up to 50 mph, rain, snow, thunderstorms, snow thunder, temperatures ranging 32 - 65. But for the most part the rock has been dry and climbable. The days when we can't make it outside, we end up at the local gym.

Expect more video to be posted of this past weekend at Rotary.

True training starts this week for the summer.
